General information

What to do if you are arrested or summoned for questioning

Under Croatian law a suspect has, among other things, the right:

  1. to defence counsel of their own choosing – and to be told of that right;
  2. not to make a statement or answer questions;
  3. to know what they are suspected of and on what grounds;
  4. to an interpreter if they do not speak Croatian.

Ask for a lawyer before you make a statement. Say that you want a lawyer and call +385 99 306 0696. If proceedings are already under way, bring the summons, decisions and any documents you have received to the meeting.

This is general information, not legal advice on your particular case. Consultations are held in Croatian.
