II.Key area

Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights

A large part of the office’s work is proceedings before the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia (Ustavni sud) and the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. When ordinary remedies have been exhausted and you believe rights guaranteed by the Constitution or the European Convention on Human Rights have been violated – for example the right to a fair trial – she assesses the prospects and conducts the proceedings.

  • Constitutional complaints to the Constitutional Court of Croatia
  • Applications to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg
  • Violations of the right to a fair trial and to a trial within a reasonable time
  • Assessment of prospects and deadlines before filing

Deadlines are short: a constitutional complaint must be filed within 30 days of receiving the decision, and an application to the European Court within four months of the final decision. Call as soon as you receive the decision.
